       EMİR MİRZA BEY MAUSOLEUM

This mausoleum is located 5 km far from Bafra and gets its name from Türbe Village where it is found. The building was constructed by using rubble stone compost and it was covered with a sharp pointed dome that looks like a tent. From the tablet placed at the top of its door, it is understood that the mausoleum was constructed in 1382 (783, in Mohammad Calendar). It was constructed in Seljuk style.
Mausoleum looks like a public family graveyard. It was constructed 600 years ago upon the directive of EMİR-MİRZA, the lord of Bafra at the time, who comes from Seljuk family (İsfendiyarogulları). There are 16 tombs in the mausoleum, 7 of which are placed at the right side of the entrance, 5 of which are placed at the left and 4 in the middle.

       HIZIR BEY MAUSOLEUM

It is located in the area called Kümbet Hill which is situated in the southwest part of Hasırlı (Mardar) village, 2 km to Bafra. This is why it is also called as Kümbet Dede (Grandfather). Within this mausoleum sleeps Hızır Bey (lord), son of Candaroğlu İsfendiyar Bey (one of the past lords of Bafra). Unfortunately, Hızır Bey’s grave had been destructed by some people searching for treasure.
The building was constructed by using rubble stone compost and it was covered with a dome which looks very beautiful and which protects its originality. The bottom side of the building was bonded with few lines of stones. The shape of the entrance door resembles the typical old gravestones.
There is also a Turkish Bath (dome-shaped) close to (50 m) Hızır Bey Mausoleum which was constructed in the same technical method. Although it is not known by whom this bath was constructed, by looking into its construction technique and materials used, it can be understood that it was constructed 300 years ago by copying Hızır Bey mausoleum.
Due to disrepair, the bath is now covered with grasses everywhere and its roof is split off from the middle. Inside the bath, there can be seen pipes installed in accordance with the era and some traces of sinks. They all look very similar to their originals.
In between these two building and in their surroundings, there are lots of graves whose owners are not clear due to lack of any writings in related to identities. They are all visible on the field.

     ASAR KALE (CASTLE)

It is located in Asar Village of Bafra. It is estimated that this castle was constructed after B.C. 1000. It is constructed over a hill, that crosses the parallel mountains of the Black Sea Region and that is situated in the left side of Kızılırmak.
Although the castle has slowly become a ruin due to disrepair and neglect, it still protects many of its characteristics. For example, reservoir pit which was constructed at the highest point of the castle in old times is still there. The old prison in the North east of the castle is also recognized.
There are also interesting places in the inner side of the castle. For example, there is a place which is located within a sculpted stone and considered to be an indoor bazaar from some of its air holes. On the other hand, there are also some parts which are considered to be hypogeum and torture chambers. There is also one stone-cut sculpture which was recently found.
There is one stone-cut staircase found during the road construction of Altınkaya Dam and it is really worth to see.
There are also watch and war rooms beyond the castle which were constructed to control Kızılırmak river, the shipping way of the time. These rooms are 10 meters-high and have 4 natural columns, a balcony and a stone-cut door (80x80) in the front and a normal size room in the back. They are all original artworks of the time and are worth to see.

It was initially made constructed (wooden) by EMİR-MİRZA, the lord of Bafra at the time, who comes from Seljuk family (İsfendiyarogulları), in order to enable people pray at any time they want.   However, it is written on the tablets that today’s version of the mosque was made constructed by Ayşe Hatun in rumi 1670. Ayşe Hatun is the daughter of Köprülü Mehmet Pasha, a popular politician of the Ottoman Empire period.
The mosque carries the characteristics of Ottoman architecture. There are some popular intellectuals of the time (100-150 years ago) who sleep in the cemetery found just next to the mosque. The mosque gives the name of the parish where it is located.

Although it is not that big, it was one of the biggest baths at the time. There is also an ancient grave in it.

       ÇETİNKAYA BRIDGE

It is the first and the least structure constructed in our town after the Republic was found. Before 1937, crossing Kızılırmak from one side to the other was possible only with the wooden bridge (650 m long) over the river. It was a very primitive one indeed, standing on massive catwalks, surrounded by thin wooden barriers and this was a huge danger for the people passing over it. Zihni Lokman Bey, the mayor of the time (1934-1938), who were aware of the danger, entered into constructing a new concrete bridge by forwarding the issue to the authorities in Ankara. Their efforts finally showed result. Minister of Transportation at the time, deceased Ali Çetinkaya personally dealt with the construction of the bridge.
On November, the 4th, in 1937, the bridge was put into service with a big ceremony. The bridge took its name from the minister, Ali Çetinkaya. Çetinkaya bridge, one of the most beautiful and perfect bridges of the time, is 250 m long and has 7 arches.

       BAFRA LIGHT HOUSE

The dictionary definition of light house is: “A tower designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses or, in older times, from a fire, and used as an aid to navigation for pilots at sea or on inland waterways”.
As Bafra is a town situated along the sea coast and had been an important center of trade, it was attracted by seafarers for centuries. At the time of Ottomans, in order to provide navigational aid to people coming to Bafra for shopping, a wooden light house was constructed within Fener Village (in the northwest part of Bafra) where Kızılırmak flows into sea. Later on, French people constructed a higher, iron lighthouse in the same place. This one was located 750 meters far from today’s lighthouse. At that time, subject to international agreements, the control of all lighthouses located along Turkish coasts was in French people’s hand. Sea waves were continuously corroding the land and endangering the existence of the lighthouse in Bafra. A committee composed of French, a Hungarian and Kancıoğlu Recep (Özkan) from Alemdar Zade Family was gathered to start the construction of the new light house in its current place. The construction was started in 1922 and ended in April, 1923. The light house in Bafra was handed down to Republic of Turkey by French people in 1937.

       Characteristics:
It was constructed on 7 pillars, 50 m inwards from the sea. Each pillar is 5 m high with 3.5 meter is underground and 1.5 is above ground. The altitude of the light house is 36 meters. There exist 99 stairs inside, from the entrance door up to the roof.

Waterfalls, lakes and all surrounding natural beauties are parts of the most beautiful natural wonders of the world. In order to enable people reach these beauties more easily and introduce these places to tourism, road construction works still continue.

Kolay Township and Boğazkaya, Düzköy -previously named as Tosköy- are full of relaxing and pleasure-giving views. Sunk minaret in Boğazkaya attracts its visitors. It submerged when the region was inundated by the dam lakes; however, locals did not want this minaret to be destroyed. So it still stays there, in the middle of the puddle.
Especially, along the coast of Derbent Dam Lake, there exist lots of areas to picnic. In Weekdays and mostly at weekends, people rush into these areas where they can fish and get the most out of the wonderful combination of green and blue. There are also lots of restaurants where delicious salmons are cooked.

They’re located along the coasts (in both sides) of Kızılırmak, in 20 km northwest of the town. These lakes are composed of 33 small and large ones. Some of them are named as follows: Karaboğaz Lake, Balık Lake, Liman Lake, Dut dibi Lake, Uzun Lake, Hayırlı Lake, İnce Lake, Çernek Lake, Tombul Lake. This area, surrounded by reeds and quicksand, has a serious potential for bird watching in all seasons. This region is one of the most important wet field eco-systems of our country.
